Jitendra can be seen trying to push his wife off the balcony. When she resisted, he picked up a brick lying there and bludgeoned her head with it, while the victim pleaded for her life. In the background, bystanders on the road can also be heard asking Jitendra to stop, but the accused shows no mercy.
According to a report by Free Press Journal (FPJ), Jitendra got married for the second time three months ago and there was an ongoing dispute between him and his first wife Pooja regarding this.
Since his second marriage, Jitendra had not visited his home in the Narwar area of Banganga, where Pooja lived with her two children.
In her statement to the police, Pooja said Jitendra came home on Sunday while she was sleeping after taking medicine.
“Both the children were playing when husband Jitendra entered the house with his second wife Gayatri, mother Basanti Bai and sister Payal… He picked up the knife, while my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and Gayatri (second wife) caught hold of me,” FPJ report quoted Pooja as saying.
As per the report, the victim told police that her husband said he would kill her and then proceeded to hit her on the head with a knife.
“Then he stabbed both my hands. He dragged me by the hair and brought me to the balcony, where he tried to throw me down…Mother-in-law, sister-in-law and Gayatri ran away from there. Husband Jitendra stayed behind. He picked up a brick and hit me on the head several times,” she added.
