As the guests for the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant three-day pre-wedding gala returned from Jamnagar on Monday, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates thanked the Ambanis for the “incredible celebration” at the first such event he attended in India.

He was seen participating in the festivities, even as his images with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and in Indian attire went viral.
While the gala began on March 1, Gates took the internet by the storm as he engaged with Dolly Chaiwala, a celebrated tea vendor known for his presence on social media, all while enjoying a cup of chai expertly brewed by him on Thursday.

Gates was among the business honchos present at the gala along with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Anand Mahindra, chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra; Serum Institute of India’s Adar Poonawala and his wife Natasha, Adani Group’s Gautam Adani; KP Singh, Chairman DLF; Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Lakshmi Mittal, Executive chairman of ArcelorMittal. Dignitaries from the world of films, cricket and politics also attended the festivities, making it a star-studded event.
