Telangana Road Accident: Though Lasya was rushed to a nearby hospital, the doctors pronounced her to be dead on arrival

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA G Lasya Nanditha was killed in a horrifying road accident in Sangareddy district’s Aminpur mandal in Telangana early on Friday.

The 37-year-old member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Secundarabad Cantonment was travelling in a SUV — Maruti XL6 — on the Patancheru Outer Ring Road, when her driver lost control and collided with the divider. Both Nanditha and the driver were left severely injured.

According to an India Today report, Nanditha was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the doctors pronounced her to be brought dead. However the driver, though critically injured, is undergoing medical treatment.

“Lasya Nanditha was travelling from Basara towards Gatchibowli. It is suspected that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The vehicle sustained significant damage to the front side. Additionally, her personal security officer was injured in the accident. Initially she was taken to a private hospital, where was pronounced dead,” police was quoted as saying, adding that her mortal remains are being shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem.

Lasya Nanditha, born in 1986 in Hyderabad, made her entry into politics nearly a decade ago. Before getting elected as a MLA from the Secunderabad Cantonment in the 2023 Telangana Assembly polls, Nanditha served as a corporator in the Kavadiguda ward.

Her constituency seat was previously held by her father, G Sayanna, who passed away earlier in 2023. Following this, Nanditha got the BRS nomination and won the assembly election.

BRS supremo and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao condoled Nanditha’s passing and said that the party will provide all the necessary support to her family.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also condoled the legislator’s death. He took to the microblogging site X and said, “The untimely death of Cantonment legislator Lasya Nandita left me deeply shocked. I had a close relationship with Nandita’s father Swargiya Sayanna. He passed away in the same month last year… It is very sad that Nandita also died suddenly in the same month. My deepest condolences to their family…I pray to God to rest her soul in peace.”

Remembering his meeting with Nanditha from last week, BRS leader KT Rama Rao said, “This was about a week ago. Just now heard the absolutely tragic & shocking news that Lasya is no more!!”

In his post on X, KTR further wrote, “Woke up to the devastating loss of the young legislator who was a very good leader in the making. My heartfelt prayers for strength to her family and friends in this terrible & difficult time.”

“Rest in peace Lasya,” KTR said in another post.
