A 32-year-old man and his three-year-old son were killed after a bus hit their bike and ran over them in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district. The incident occurred last Friday (February 9), on the city’s Mettupalayam Road, when victim Ashok Kumar, with his wife Susheela (30) and their son Sharvanth, was travelling towards the Periyanaickenpalayam area.

As per the police, the bus was heading to Mettupalayam from Coimbatore. It hit the bike when Kumar was steering his vehicle from the right to the left side of the road.
“Kumar and Sharvanth fell on the road and were crushed under the wheels of the bus. They died on the spot. Suseela, who was thrown off the vehicle, suffered severe injuries. She is admitted to a private hospital,” police said according to a report by Times of India.
Kumar was reportedly a pump operator with the Gudalur municipality.
After hitting the bike, the bus driver parked the vehicle on the main road and escaped along with the bus conductor.
After the incident, other motorists staged a road blockade for hours demanding stringent action against the bus driver. They were pacified after after police stepped in are assured them of appropriate action against the accused bus driver.
Meanwhile, police have also registered a case against the bus driver and started a probe into the case.
