Hours after a cinematic scene ensued in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, the police have claimed the involvement of a notorious gangster based in the UK in the sensational murder of the state unit president of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and former MLA Nafe Singh Rathi, who was shot dead on Sunday. In addition to this, it has also been learnt that three more individuals have been named in the FIR filed in connection with the murder case.
The three individuals mentioned in the FIR are Virendra Rathi, Sandeep Rathi and Rajpal Sharma, NDTV reported citing its sources. With the addition of the three new individuals, a total of 15 suspects, including former BJP MLA Naresh Kaushik, have been named in the FIR. Reportedly, two out of the three newly named individuals have political affiliations.
Sending shockwaves across the nation, several unidentified assailants fired several rounds of bullets at the vehicle carrying Haryana Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Nafe Singh Rathi and his associates at a railway crossing in Jhajjar district on Sunday. The attackers, who came in a car, fled the scene after open firing at the SUV in which Rathi was travelling.
The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, however, the former MLA was declared dead on arrival. The assailants spared the life of Rathi’s nephew, who was driving the vehicle, and instructed him to inform the family about the incident.
The Haryana INLD chief’s son, Jitendra Rathee, said, “After my father’s death, his body was shifted to the mortuary at around 3 to 3:30 am and an FIR was registered at around 4 am. We will not perform the last rites of my father until the names of the accused mentioned in the FIR are arrested and we are provided security. I think local politicians are involved in this.”
Delhi Police Continues Investigation
Following the deadly murder of Haryana INLD chief, the Delhi Police suspected the involvement of sharpshooters associated with jailed gangsters, Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jathedi. The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch and Special Cell also visited the crime scene in Jhajjar and launched an investigation to nab the culprits.
“It is suspected that gang members of jailed gangsters might have taken the contract to eliminate Rathi for money,” a Delhi police official was quoted by news agency PTI.
CBI to Probe Killing of Haryana INLD Chief
Assuring the state Assembly, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that the Haryana government will order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing of Haryana Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Nafe Singh Rathee.
“If the House is only satisfied with a CBI probe, then I assure the members that we will hand over the case to the CBI,” Vij said in the Assembly.
