Ahead of the Mahashivratri celebrations, the Congress government in Karnataka has asked temples to hold special poojas, ‘Rudrabhisheka’ and ‘Rudrahoma’ for peace and tranquility.
On January 22, the Karnataka government had also issued a directive to all Muzrai temples in the state to offer pujas, as the day marked the consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
During that time, Minister Ramalinga Reddy wrote on X, “I have instructed all Muzrai temples in the state to offer special puja on 22 January, when the idol of Lord Rama will be installed in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.”
The auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri falls on March 8 this year. The day marks the marriage of Lord Shiva to Goddess Parvati and is celebrated as the day of union. Devotees often observe fast on this day and bathe the shivling with milk, honey and water and offer flowers and bel leaves to God.
