After catching the accused, the Bengal police searched his house and found the body of his dead wife
In a horrific incident, a man in West Bengal’s East Midnapore allegedly killed his wife and was seen moving around with her severed head in the area. The accused was later arrested, the police said on Wednesday.
According to an India Today report, the accused has been identified as 40-year-old Goutam Guchhait. He was spotted by locals near the Chistipur bus stop soaked in blood, carrying the chopped head of his wife.
The sight triggered panic among the locals and the police were immediately called to the spot, who then arrested the man.
The police in its preliminary probe found that Guchhait was mentally unstable and allegedly killed his wife following a domestic dispute. The accused later severed her head with a sharp weapon, the publication reported.
After catching Guchhait, the police searched his house and found the body of his wife. Further investigation is underway, the report added.
In another such incident, a man allegedly killed his wife in Odisha’s Nayagarh district over suspicion of an extra-marital affair and surrendered at the police station with her severed head. The incident occurred in December last year.
The accused identified as, Arjun Bagha walked into the Banigochha police station with the severed head of his wife, triggering a panic.
Bagha, a resident of Bidapaju village, told the police that he killed his 30-year-old wife Dharitri, suspecting her to be involved in an extra-marital affair and added that he used a sharp weapon to kill Dharitri and then chopped off her head.
