Troubles seem to be rising for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as a fresh plea, challenging his authority to pass orders while in Enforcement Directorate custody has been filed in the High Court.
The plea also sought direction to investigate how Kejriwal, who is operating as Chief Minister of Delhi from jail, is passing orders in custody.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann said that if his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal is sent to jail, they will approach the court seeking permission to set up his office in prison to run his government from there.
He also asserted that no one can take the place of Kejriwal in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court will on Wednesday hear a petition by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.
Kejriwal’s petition, which has sought his immediate release on account of the arrest and the subsequent remand to ED being “illegal”, is listed for hearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma at 10.30 am.
