While neighbours say that the boy was good-natured and unlikely to pick up any quarrel with other children, crimologists involved in the case suggest that the motive could be personal
A class 4 boy was allegedly stabbed to death with a vegetable knife and his head was hit with an iron rod and then smashed with a stone idol on Friday evening when he was studying in his room at West Bengal’s Adarshnagar near Konnagar.
Terming the murder, ‘exceptionally brutal’ Chandernagore Police Commissioner Amit Kumar Javalgi said that they have sealed the house and started to investigate the case, reported the Times of India.
The eight-year-old boy identified as Snehangshu Sharma was once heckled last week while travelling in the pool car, said the victim’s father to the police. The report also quoted a source who informed that cops are questioning the driver of the pool car through which the boy used to commute to school.
While neighbours say that the boy was good-natured and unlikely to pick up any quarrel with other children, criminologists involved in the case suggest that the motive could be personal.
A cousin sister of Sharma was the first one to spot her brother in a lifeless condition. She shouted and with the help of neighbours, they took the boy to a private hospital in Uttarpara, where he was declared dead, said a neighbour to the English daily.
A cop said that there are various questions as to how a person can move out from the spot ‘undetected’ when the manner in which the murder happened, “the killer would also have been splattered with blood,” quoted TOI. A five-member forensic team reached the crime spot on Saturday and collected the stone idol used to smash the head of the eight-year-old.
So far, the team is not able to unearth any clue but has sourced all the weapons used to kill the class 4 boy. Locals hint that the murder could have taken place at 7 pm when the boy was alone at home.
“Such a gruesome incident has never taken place before,” said former Kanaipur panchayat pradhan Achhelal Yadav, adding that the area was once controlled by goons like Hubba Shyamal and Ramesh Mahato.
