In another case of dog attack, a German Shepherd — despite being on a leash — was seen charging at a girl child in Ajnara Integrity Society in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the owner falling down in a bid to restrain the dog, which bit the 6-year-old girl on her arm. The child’s mother immediately ran towards her, raising her hand at the dog to shoo it away and called for the security guard’s assistance.

Several other children were seen walking inside the society’s vicinity when the incident took place.

On the basis of a complaint made by the 6-year-old girl’s mother, Namita Chauhan, the police have now filed a case. She noted that at the time of the attack, the German Shepherd was not wearing a muzzle, NDTV reported.

She claimed that her one-year-old son was also attacked by the dog, however this was not captured in the CCTV. Chauhan demanded that necessary measures be taken, including the removal of the dog from the premises of the society, to ensure the prevention of such incidents in the future.

The incident comes weeks after a pitbull attacked a 15-year-old boy in Ghaziabad, leaving the teen with severe injuries. The dog was later captured by the Municipal Corporation.

Last month, the central government directed states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 breeds of ferocious dogs, including Pitbull Terrier, American Bulldog, Rottweiler and Mastiffs, amid rising instances of people dying due to dog attacks.
