Arvind Kejriwal News LIVE: The Delhi High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to the alleged liquor policy scam. As per the cause list uploaded on the high court’s website, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma is scheduled to pronounce the order at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Apart from his arrest, the Delhi CM has also challenged his subsequent remand in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody. Kejriwal was remanded in judicial custody later and is currently lodged in Tihar jail. The AAP national convener has questioned the “timing” of his arrest by the agency and said it was in contravention of the basic structure of the Constitution, including democracy, free and fair elections and a level playing field.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Atishi has claimed that if Arvind Kejriwal decides to join the BJP, he will walk out of jail within a day. Atishi, who is in Assam for a three-day visit to the state to campaign for the AAP candidates in Dibrugarh and Sonitpur Lok Sabha seats, also attacked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. “If Arvind Kejriwal joins the BJP like Himanta Biswa Sarma, he would be freed from jail within a day. But Kejriwal is a fighter. He will not surrender before BJP’s pressure tactics and will continue to serve the people of Delhi, Punjab, and Assam irrespective of whether he is in jail,” the AAP leader said.
