The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government in Odisha, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a one-day trip to the state on Thursday.

“Odisha also needs a double-engine government. According to political analysts, we will form the government in Odisha this time,” the Union Minister said while addressing the party workers at the Karyakarta Sammelan in Nabarangpur district.

Rajnath Singh further revealed that the number of medical colleges and engineering institutions has increased in the state during the BJP-led central government.

“I share a very emotional bonding with Odisha as I had started Bharat Suraksha Yatra from the land of Lord Jagannath in Odisha when I was the BJP’s National President in 2006,” the Defence Minister expressed.

The Union Minister highlighted how terrorism was at its peak, and the Maoists were dominating many states of the country, with incidents of bomb blasts in some cities every day during those times. “It was the Bharat Suraksha Yatra that gave me the opportunity to visit many districts of Odisha when the Congress Government was at the Centre. However, our government led by PM Narendra Modi took effective action against terrorism,” he added.

“We do what we say. We had said that Article 370 will be abolished in Jammu and Kashmir. We did it. We have abolished the evil practice of triple talaq. We had said that we will build a grand temple in Ayodhya. Today a grand temple has been built in Ayodhya,” he stated.

Additionally, the Defence Minister praised PM Modi and said that he has ‘achieved what nobody else has been able to do’.

Singh noted that the Congress has cheated the people of the country. “The party coined the slogan ‘Garib Hatao,’ but instead, poverty increased. Whereas, Modi lifted 25 crore people from the BPL list in the past 9 years,” he said.
